Canal Central's shop and Post Office provides convenience for both visitors and locals. All your essentials are available, from bread to plasters and envelopes to puncture repair kits.
Located within the shop is a metre square box serving as a Post Office counter, which supplies almost all the convenience of its counter-part in town; withdrawal of money, charging of mobile phones, paying of bills, ordering of currency as well as postage.
Our emphasis is on supplying local produce as much as possible, the closest being ice-cream from a neighbouring farm. Shropshire, along with the Black Country area and other border counties, offers a wide array of high quality fare. Meats and dairy produce are a speciality, with Maynards bacon reaching the dizzy heights of being knighted one of Rick Stein's food heroes.
Canal Central also acts as a drop-off point for Local Feast's fresh produce box scheme, ideal for boaters to order ahead when entering the Montgomery at Frankton locks.
We have a selection of organic and fair trade goods, as well as unusual vegetarian options and foods for those with special dietary requirements.
Quality wines, bottled beers and spirits are available, again many of these sourced from within the region.
Frozen fruit, stir fry, Yorkshire puddings and more are available to buy loose by the kilo.
Sweets are sold by the jar, as well as in wrappers, the the attempt (largely in vain) to entice the healthy choice of a seed bar or halva.
Cards by a Shropshire artist have become quite a feature, there is also the odd book or two; an ideal gift from the area.
